Articulation, Enhanced Articulation, Dual Enrollment, and Concurrent Enrollment Agreements & Post Secondary Opportunities
One of the unique benefits of attending Mid-Coast School of Technology (MCST) is the opportunity to take advantage of our many post secondary agreements with colleges to earn college credit while attending MCST. An articulation agreement is an officially approved agreement that matches coursework between our school and Maine’s community college and university systems and awards advanced placement credit. Through agreements with Maine’s community colleges credit may be earned for identified courses taken at MCST. Articulation and Enhanced articulation agreements are the same to a career and technical education student as earning credits through Advanced Placement exams are to an academic student. These agreements recognize skills and competencies developed through successful completion of specific trade coursework. There are benefits to pursuing articulation credit including savings on tuition, books and fees, saving time by not duplicating class work at the college level, as well as freeing time in your college schedule for expanded program content.
MCST currently holds the following Articulation, Enhanced Articulation and Dual/Concurrent Enrollment agreements with Maine colleges and universities.

Mid-Coast School of Technology has seven Programs of Study in place for the 2012-13 school year. A program of study is a planned sequence of courses that integrates high quality core academic knowledge with technical and occupational skills and knowledge to provide secondary CTE students with a pathway to post-secondary education and career goals. Programs of Study are an agreed upon pathway to higher education among MCST*Region 8 sending schools: RSU 13 Oceanside High School, Camden Hills Regional High School, Medomak Valley High School, Vinalhaven, Islesboro, North Haven, and Lincoln Academy as well as Maine Community College Systems.
Articulation Definitions
Articulation can be a complex process to navigate. The following terms are defined as they are used to describe the various types of articulation agreements.
• Dual Enrollment/Concurrent Enrollment – credit exists when a student is enrolled in a secondary CTE program, as well as a corresponding community college course. These students may take classes at both institutions for credit toward their high school diploma, as well as for college credit.
• Enhanced Articulation is a system-wide agreement between all CTE schools and the community college system in a particular program area. MCST participates in two types of enhanced articulation: dual credit and escrow credit.
• Escrow credit becomes available when a student satisfactorily completes the secondary CTE program and then requests the community college credit, once s/he is matriculated and has satisfied the community college requirements to complete the articulation.
