One of the unique benefits of attending MCST is the opportunity to take advantage of our many articulation agreements. An articulation agreement is an officially approved agreement that matches coursework between our school and Maine's community college and university systems and awards advanced placement credit. Through articulation agreements, Maine's community colleges may grant college credit for certain courses taken at MCST. An articulation agreement means the same to a career and tech ed student as getting credit through the AP exam means to an academic student. These agreements recognize that skills and competencies are developed through successful completion of specific trade coursework. There are lots of benefits to pursuing articulation credit including savings on tuition, books and fees; saving time by not duplicating classwork at the college level; and freeing up time in your college schedule for expanded program content.
MCST currently holds the following articulation agreements with Maine colleges and universities. For a printable version click MCST Articulation Agreements.

There is no formal articulation agreement or enhanced articulation agreement with SMCC for Fire Fighting because it is unnecessary. There is an umbrella organization called Maine Fire Training and Education (MFT&E) that oversees training statewide. Students who complete the Fire Fighter I program and receive a certificate from MFT&E are granted 3 elective credits in the Fire Science Technology program by virtue of showing the certificate. That is also true of the Fire Fighter II certificate. In addition, a student who has completed an Emergency Medical Training-Basic (EMT-B) class can also be awarded 5 credits toward a SMCC EMT-B degree. In summary, it is possible for a student with those three courses to enter the SMCC program with 11 credits.
