Small Engine Technology is a nationally certified two year program which provides students with practical information about small engine construction, operation, lubrication, maintenance, troubleshooting, service, rebuilding, and repair as well as an opportunity to complete national certification exams upon successful completion of the program.  Our national sponsor is the Equipment & Engine Training Council (EETC).

A strong emphasis is placed on basic principles and basic shop procedures that will serve the student well as engines and equipment change over time

Requirements

First year students will cover the following topics:

  • Safety
  • Engine Identification
  • Two Stroke Cycle Engines
  • Four Stroke Cycle Engines
  • Fundamental Small Engine Components
  • Cooling Systems
  • Ignition Systems
  • Fuel Systems
  • Exhaust
  • Lubrication Systems
Second year students will be expected to cover the following topics:
  • Safety Review
  • Diesel Engine Fundamentals
  • Electrical Systems
  • Electrical Repair
Second year students may also choose to focus on motorcycle engines.
