MCST March Students of the Month

April 8th 2010

The faculty at the Mid-Coast School of Technology has recognized two outstanding Students of the Month for March from the Residential Construction and Baking/Hospitality programs.  The award is based on demonstration of the characteristics of solid attendance, positive attitude, and excellent work ethic.  Selected for the March Residential Construction program is Amanda Peterson, a senior from Rockland District High School.  According to Instructor Dan Dishner, “Amanda is doing great in this class.  She is always on task and completes her classwork.  One of the things that impress me most about Amanda is her willingness to do things that are hard for her to do.  When she started the program she would not climb a ladder…slowly she kept trying until she was able to work on a shed roof installing shingles. Now that’s a big deal!”  Josh Reil, a junior from Camden Hills Regional High School, joined MCST Baking program mid-year and has really risen to the top!  Instructor Carol Pelletier describes Josh as “motivated, with a great attitude and strong work ethic.”

In addition, Nick Young, a Medomak Valley High School Cooperative Education Student, has been named Student of the Month at MVHS.  With a 3.79 GPA, Nick is involved in a number of school activities including:  MVHS Tennis Team; Academic Honor Roll, '07, '08, '09, '10; Perfect Attendance, '07, '08 and so far in '09; Employee Of The Month June '09; and he was recently selected an artist for Youth Art Month at the Portland Museum of Art '10.
