Alex Fayvil

Math Teacher

Born in Ukraine and raised in Philadelphia, Alex came to mid-coast Maine via California and to Mid-Coast School of Technology after teaching at Oceanside High School and Oceanside Middle School.

Alex’s undergraduate work was in business, finance and economics. Upon graduation, he spent a number of years on the West Coast pursuing interests in small business management and arts management before discovering Maine. The move to Maine presented an opportunity to enter the field of public service and to earn a graduate degree in Public Policy and Management from University of Southern Maine. He also earned a Certificate of Graduate Study in Applied Research and Evaluation Methods and a Certificate of Graduate Study in Nonprofit Management both from USM’s Muskie School of Public Service.

Alex holds certifications in Secondary Mathematics and Social Studies.

Alex is passionate about learning and always encourages his students to approach mathematics as a tool with which to explore and advance their interests.

When not pursuing his latest interest in the use of prime numbers for Internet encryption, Alex spends as much time as possible outdoors biking and hiking around the Mid-Coast.
