I joined the Mid-Coast School of Technology family in July, 2018 as the Adult Education Director. With a B.A. in Broadcasting from the University of Maine at Orono, and a K-8 elementary teaching certification from the University of Southern Maine at Gorham, I found my way into the world of Adult Education purely by chance. During the early 1990’s, when my U.S. Army officer husband was stationed at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska, I became employed through the Department of Defense as a Basic Skills Education Program teacher tasked with working with adult Army soldiers. I discovered I loved working with this adult population, and so began my career shift into Adult Education.
Prior to employment here at Mid-Coast, I worked for twelve years as a Learning Center Instructor/Coordinator for Adult Education at Five Town CSD, helping 150+ high school dropouts attain a GED/HiSET and tutoring adult and college transitions students as they prepared for future workforce placements. My husband and I have raised three great kids—Kyle, Aaron, and Hannah—all graduates from one of our local school districts. In my spare time, I can be found spending time with my family recreational boating out on Penobscot Bay or motorcycling to some new destination. An avid bicyclist, I ride year round (on a bike trainer during the winter months!) and put a minimum of 2,500 miles on my bike each year.
