Lisa Mejias

School-to-Career Coordinator/Teacher

I am a lifelong native of Down East Maine. I graduated from Calais High School in 1998 and received my Associates degree in Business Management from Washington County Community College in 2003. I was a stay-at-home mother for several years before becoming an insurance agent for a state-wide insurance company. From there I moved into medical billing for a small, locally owned optometry office in Calais.

When COVID-19 hit, I had to leave my job in order to take care of my children’s education, but it was during this time that I rediscovered my desire to work with children. When the school system reopened, I began working as a substitute teacher at the high school level and took classes to earn my Educational Technician III Certification. I was the long-term substitute for the CNA program and Student Services in the CTE  section of our high school. I found that I have an absolute passion for this type of work. I wish that when I was in high school I had been exposed to this program like students today. I think it’s important for students to have real life experiences with careers and explore their interests. I am committed to helping Oceanside High School students find their path to not just a successful career, but also a successful life!

I live in Lincolnville with my husband Frank, and our children  We love spending time in nature either hiking or exploring the beach. I also enjoy home improvement projects and own an interior decorating/landscaping business.
