Nate Reed recently completed the Certified Composites Technician (CCT) program as part of his student experience at The Boat School in Eastport, Maine. The Certified Composites Technician program was created by the American Composites Manufacturers Association to acknowledge individuals who have received focused training in composite construction. Employers are increasingly acknowledging employees with a higher level of knowledge that produce better products with improved efficiency. The area of composite manufacturing has become progressively competitive and technical.
The CCT program is part of the Composite Construction course at The Boat School. To achieve his CCT status, Nate had to study a sizable manual and work through each training module. Once he had completed this training portion of the program he then sat for a 100 question test on which he scored a 91. The Boat School is one of just a few sites in the state where this training and certification is offered.
Nate Reed is a 2008 graduate of Medomak Valley High School and the Mid-Coast School of Technology Marine Technology program. During his 3 years at MCST, Nate twice achieved the honor of Student of the Month. Richard Irving, MCST Marine Tech instructor well remembers Nate as one of his most likable, dependable, and hard working students. “Nate was always prepared for the hard pull, always willing to take on the leadership role and to share his skills with his classmates in a positive way. I predict a bright future for ‘Old Nate-Dog’."
Nate is currently in his second year of a two-year diploma program in boat building at The Boat School. He is pictured in the foreground below working on a Boat School project. He is looking forward to graduation and is eager to find a job in the industry. Nate wishes to thank his MCST Marine Technology instructor Richard Irving and current Boat School instructor Brian Moore for their guidance, support, and encouragement in learning the craft of boat building.
Congratulations Nate on a job well done!
